We are here for her!
Her Education is an education support program that helps adolescent girls at risk of dropping out of school due to financial constraints through providing school supplies and covering school contributions, enabling girls living on less than $2 a day across Tanzania to stay in school, pursue their goals, and excel in their studies.
THE CHALLENGE GIRLS FACE
- Approximately 600,000 girls in Tanzania drop out each year, especially during the transition to secondary school, due to early pregnancy, child marriage, and financial barriers. (UNESCO)
- Nearly 40% of girls marry before 18, with teenage pregnancy and poverty further disrupting education. (Human Rights Watch)
WHAT MAKES THE PROGRAM UNIQUE
The program offers comprehensive support covering school supplies and contributions for young girls living under $2 a day to ensure their stay in school.
Evidence-Based Impact
153 adolescent girls aged 12–18 are now fully supported through scholarships and educational aid.
97% of girls from low-income and rural households report better school attendance and experience greater dignity in school.
300 parents have been impacted through economic empowerment sessions, enabling them to raise their incomes and savings to sustainably support their daughters’ education.
The program has increased girls’ school retention, reducing their risk of early marriage.
