We are here for her!
The Niboreshe Project empowers adolescent girls and young women living on the informal settlement in Dar es Salaam with 21st-century skills. Through mobile learning centers, the program delivers accessible workshops, alongside hands-on training in handicrafts and basic business skills. By combining personal empowerment with practical capability, the project promotes self-employment, economic independence, and confidence among young women who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities.
THE CHALLENGE GIRLS FACE
Youth unemployment, especially among young women outside the school system in Africa is a pressing issue; many lack both employable skills and access to formal job markets.
OUR UNIQUE APPROACH
- Utilization of mobile learning centres that bring training directly to underserved communities
- The program uses a hands-on training approach that teaches handicrafts while introducing basic business skills such as pricing, packaging, and marketing.
Evidence-Based Impact
Over 200 young women trained in practical skills and entrepreneurship
70 % of girls in the program has started their business and increase their income to
90% of program goals met, increased confidence, self-employment opportunities, and economic self-reliance
