Before attending the Girls Konnect Event, Yusra’s world was small and predictable, university and home. She had never attended external events, rarely interacted with new people, and struggled with confidence. Speaking in front of others felt intimidating, and she often questioned herself before starting conversations. With limited encouragement to explore beyond academics, she felt stuck and unsure of what opportunities existed outside her immediate environment.
Everything began to shift when a fellow university student told her about the Girls Konnect Event. Although hesitant at first, Yusra made the bold decision to step outside her comfort zone and attend. That single decision marked a turning point.

During the event, one activity stood out deeply to her, writing a “letter to yourself.” Through that exercise, Yusra reflected on her fears, dreams, and untapped potential. It became a powerful moment of self-affirmation. Listening to other young women openly share their journeys also helped her realize she was not alone in her doubts and ambitions. For the first time, she saw the value of sisterhood, shared learning, and collective growth.
After the program, Yusra began setting small but intentional goals for herself, initiating conversations, attending more events, and actively seeking opportunities. Her confidence grew steadily. She became more comfortable speaking in front of others and networking with professionals.

As a direct result of this transformation and her increased engagement, Yusra secured an opportunity to intern as a Program Officer, gaining practical experience and stepping into a leadership pathway she once doubted she could pursue.
Today, Yusra is no longer confined to a routine of university and home. She is connected, confident, and actively shaping her career journey, a powerful example of how exposure, mentorship, and safe spaces can unlock a young woman’s potential.

In her own words Yusra says, “Before joining the Girls Konnect, I struggled with confidence and found it hard to speak up or connect with new people. Through activities like writing a letter to myself and sharing stories with other girls, I slowly built the courage to express myself. Today, I feel more confident, open to new opportunities, and brave enough to stand in front of others and share my voice”
Yusra’s journey is a powerful reminder that when a girl is given access, encouragement, and opportunity, she doesn’t just grow, she rises, leads, and transforms her future.
