Girls and young women, particularly those from marginalized and low-income communities, lack access to accurate information and services related to sexual and reproductive health (SRH). This results in high rates of early pregnancies, early marriages, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), exacerbating the cycle of poverty and gender inequality. In addition, cultural taboos and stigmas surrounding SRH prevent open discussions, leading to misinformed decisions and poor health outcomes for young women.
This program addresses these challenges by providing young women with comprehensive and culturally sensitive SRH education. The program offers accurate, age-appropriate information on topics such as contraception, menstrual health, sexual consent, STIs, family planning, and healthy relationships. In addition, the program facilitates peer-to-peer and community discussions to break the stigma surrounding SRH, fostering open dialogue and empowerment. GFI partners with healthcare providers to ensure access to quality SRH services, including family planning options, counseling, and health screenings, to promote overall well-being.
The goal of GFI’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Program is to equip young women with the knowledge, skills, and resources to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health. By providing access to education, services, and support, the program aims to reduce early pregnancies, early marriages, and the spread of STIs, enabling young women to achieve their full potential. , GFI strives to promote gender equality, improve health outcomes, and empower young women to take control of their bodies and futures.
